MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Oklahoma declared a state of emergency in 12 counties due to severe weather, including Grady and McClain where the city of Blanchard is located.
"[The church] wasn't destroyed but places around us were totaled. We've got some damage. I don't know how much. The insurance company will have to come out and look," told Ernie Landry in an interview with the Christian Post, as cited in The Blaze.
Fortunate to have withstood the destruction, the Bridge Creek Church of Christ posted a thank you note on their Facebook page along with contact numbers and address information for those who want to donate and help.
"We want to thank all for your prayers and concern for our community during this time. Let's continue to pray for all those that have been affected from yesterday's storms," said the church through their Facebook page, encouraging everyone to help out those who are in need after the tornadoes.
The church is currently raising funds in order to secure hotel and motel rooms for the displaced people, as well as providing the locals with shovels and other materials to clean up and fix the destroyed community.
Although it was less impacted than other buildings, the Ridgecrest Baptist Church was not completely undamaged by the strong storms. After it was destroyed by tornadoes back in 1999, the church was once again hit and sustained serious damages, according to the news.
In the statement from the State Department of Health, at least 30 people were injured during the storms.
