LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The drama, titled "Fatima," was introduced as in preproduction during the Cannes Film Festival on May 18. It will be directed by Marco Pontecorvo and star Harvey Keitel (from Mean Streets) and Sonia Braga (Aquarius).
"Cannes is the perfect place to introduce buyers to this heartfelt and timely film, whose main characters were just this week canonized by the Pope," said Gary Hamilton, producer and managing director of Arclight Films.
The story will dramatize the events following Fatima Marian apparition visionaries Lucia Santos, Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto.
"Fatima is a highly commercially viable film that remains true to its miraculous message," expressed Hamilton. "The story of Fatima is what real-life legends are made of."
There is currently no report on when the production of the film will begin or a projected release date.
