LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - During the campaign-funded rally, which was attended by conservative Republicans, Melania Trump began with a prayer, prompting many Democrats and far-left liberals to speak out.

Many claimed the prayer should not have been recited purely because church and state should remain separate, while others stated not all Americans are religious.

Some comments posted to Twitter cruelly attacked the First Lady personally with everything, including claiming she "sounds like someone getting cursed to become a 'Dracula.'"

The recitation may have been in broken English, but she certainly had her heart in the right place.

Many ridiculed her for not having the prayer memorized. In the video, she is clearly reading the prayer but the cracks in her voice and expressions on her face reveal her true feelings behind them.

On Twitter @adrianshort wrote: "With an hour's practice I could probably say the Lord's Prayer better in Slovene than Melania Trump does it in English."

@NicoleAngeleen wrote: "I could recite the Our Father backwards, drugged with a gun to my head. If you need to read this prayer, you're not Christian."

The criticism continued but Melania Trump remained above them all and has not attempted to respond.
