Many Catholics of Vietnam suffered for their faith during the ten-year reign of the country’s emperor, Minh Mang (1830-1840). Two of these victims were executed in Vietnam’s Bac Ninh province on September 5, 1838. Peter Tu Van Nguyen, of Ninh Cuong, was a forty-two-year-old Dominican priest. Jose Canh Luong Hoang, a Third Order Dominican layman from Lang Van, was a doctor.
