Brother Jacinto Hoyuelos Gonzalo, of Matarrepudio, Spain, a religious of the Hospitallers of Saint John of God, served in his congregation’s San Rafael Hospital in Madrid. From July of 1936 onward, the religious were threatened by the Popular Front to the point that it became dangerous for the brothers to collect the donations upon which the hospital relied. On August 20, government agents seized the hospital. A month later, on September 19, Brother Jacinto was executed.
