Das Neue Testament, wie er üblicherweise in den christlichen Kirchen erhalten, besteht aus siebenundzwanzig verschiedene Bücher zugeschrieben zu acht verschiedene Autoren, von denen sechs unter den Aposteln (Matthäus, Johannes, Paul, James, Peter, Jude) und zwei nummeriert sind gemacht unter ihrer unmittelbaren Jünger (Markus, Lukas).
